Henna Hands

Henna has been utilised to adorn juvenile women's bodies as part of social and vacation celebrations since the late Bronze Age in the to the east Mediterranean. The soonest text citing henna in the context of wedding ceremony commemorations comes from the Ugaritic legend of Baal and Anath, which has quotations to women assessing themselves with henna in preparation to rendezvous their husbands, and Anath adorning herself with henna to celebrate a victory over the foes of Baal.
